The Company:

Q: What are your store hours
A: M-F, 9am to 5pm, Sat 10am to 5pm

Q: How long does it take to order and receive a component?
A: If the item is in stock at the distributor, it will be here in two business days.

Computers:

Q: What is involved in bringing in my computer for service?
A: Nothing more than the actual computer. We have cables, monitors, and other needed parts here, which makes your transporting easier. We do however, ask you to bring all CD's that came with the computer, (Restore/Driver disks) in the event a worst-case scenario arises.

Q: Does Mountain Media make "house calls?"
A: We sure do! Rates do differ between in-house and on-site calls. Please contact us for current rates, as they vary depending on the travel distance involved.

Q: My Windows machine says it might be running an illegal copy of the Operating System. What do I do to fix that?
A: You will need a valid Windows CD and corresponding Product Key that matches that version of the operating system. We don't sell keys, as we are a Microsoft System Builder Partner, and follow strict guidelines and protocols with them. If you don't have a valid copy, you may contact Microsoft directly, or purchase a new CD set with Product Key through Mountain Media.

Q: I need my computer back fast. How long will it take to fix my machine?
A: Normal in-house rates are $65/hour. Expedited service is $85/hour. While this service places your repair 'at the top of the list,' depending on the situation, it does not guarantee your repair will be done on the same day it was dropped off.

Q: What type of machines do you fix?
A: Any machine that runs one of the following Operating Systems: BeOS (v3, v5), Windows (98 to Vista), Max OSX (v9.0 - v10.5.2), Linux (Mandrake Kubuntu).

Q: I've lost my password to my machine / I just bought this computer, but didn't get a password to get into it - what do I do?
A: Proof of ownership is required to reset the password on any machine. Any sale or transfer of a computer should include all CD's/software, a Certificate or Authenticity sticker, and the password to get on the machine. (The machine should have been formatted to destroy all data from the last owner.) Mountain Media stands behind legal precedence and will not reset any system without proper identification of ownership/transfer.

Q: My computer didn't come with any software and I need to reformat, what do I do?
A: If you don't have a valid copy of your operating system and needed Product Keys, we can sell you a needed version you're requesting. If your machine has a Certificate of Authenticity sticker on it, we can work with you in getting your machine fixed.

Q: If I buy a new computer, can I have my stuff transferred to the new one?
A: All of your items located in your My Documents folder can be moved over to your new computer. Applications cannot be copied, as their installation structure is complicated and is spread all over the drive. Also, another complication is most applications inject a very large amount of registry keys. You will need to reinstall them from your CD's to make your applications, printers, and other devices work again. (Microsoft Office and Works is not part of the Windows operating system, as it is a suite of tools, purchased separately.)

Q: What can I do myself, before needing to take my machine in for service?
A: (1) Retrace your steps before the problem. If there was anything new you did, or uninstalled, reverse the process and see if that fixes it. (2) Have you updated your anti-virus program? You need to update it regularly, in order to be effective, even if it says it does it automatically, then run a full system scan, including inside 'archives.' (3) Does the same problem happen when you boot into 'Safe Mode'? If not, then uninstall or remove the last thing you installed. Go backwards until the problem goes away in normal mode. (4) Have you rebooted your machine and all connected equipment? (5) Have you checked for loose/unplugged cables, to and from your computer?

Home Theater, Audio, Video

Q: Are site evaluations free?
A: Yes!

Q: Do you do acoustical analysis before recommending solutions?
A: Yes, our professional installers will analyze your individual application and give you high end professional, to medium and low-budget component options for your project.
